NGO The Comrads was founded in 2005 by 4 Belgian students that wanted to do more than just studying. Three of them were studying in Namur, Belgium at the time (Medicine & Law), and one of them was studying in Haifa, Israel (Diplomacy - Government). Slowely but surely however, this young but enthusiastic organization grew to be a worldwide active NGO with over 200 volunteers and activities on almost any continent. Since the beginning, NGO The Comrads has been raising funds for charity in general - with a clear focus in health related issues such as HIV/AIDS.

More and more however, they tend to focus on Global Health in general. Recent data shows (Murray et al.) that of every public health dollar spent on public health in poor countries, already 23% is spent on HIV/AIDS. Although a major killer, this is massive. We are thus not excluding focusing on other issues as well in the future. We invite you to send us your feedback and ideas.

A beautiful example of an organization with diverse activities is the Carter Center using its local expertise following fighting tropical diseases for enhancing democracy and human rights locally. The experience that NGO The Comrads is building up currently on the field but also in the Western world will serve any purpose it undertakes.
